New Adventure Update!

Hey guys! Long time no talk!!

I’ve decided to venture out this summer and take a job in northern Saskatchewan! I made the trek up here on Sunday, May 2, 2021. I’m currently living in Missinipe, Saskatchewan at a fishing resort that is part of Adventure Destinations International. Our lodge is called Thompson Resort, and it’s pretty cool…

I have been offered a job as the Front of House Supervisor for the resort restaurant. I’ve been working in the service industry since I was 15 so this is an exciting step for me. Since I’m in Environmental Biology at the University of Saskatchewan, it is also allowing me to work within my field as part of the tourism industry and be closer to nature at the same time.

Growing up, I spent my summers in Saskatchewan at Emma Lake (by Murray Point Campground). This has allowed me to experience lake life as well as appreciate all it has to offer. My time at Emma Lake allowed me to have freedom (I biked EVERYWHERE) any kid would love to have. I was also lucky that my papa kept all the toonies he could throughout the year to help pay for my ice cream a day 😂. My adventures at Emma Lake included fishing, ATVing, snowmobiling, biking, hanging by the lake and trying to help papa out with his Lake tasks (often being the one running the beer from the fridge to adults hands – which I now understand to be important as an adult). I’m forever grateful for those experiences as I crave them all the time now.

Now that you know the background of me growing up at various points of the years at Emma Lake, you now know how exciting it is for me to be back at a lake, living out the life I had always appreciated and enjoyed. This is an awesome experience for me and I am forever grateful that ADI and Thompson Resort has trusted me to take an important roll to provide an important part of the guest experience (I mean food is something we need, and also can enjoy).

I have decided to blog about my adventure here because I think everyone needs a break from their lives living amongst COVID. I hope I can show how amazing Saskatchewan and Canada is, share my experiences, and provide entertainment in these times.

Hope you can enjoy my sunset with me! The lake is still frozen, but we’re hoping it will thaw within the next few weeks so the resort can be fully up and running.!

Thanks for following/supporting me, and I hope to keep my travel and adventure conversation going after a couple year hiatus.

Lots of love,

Emily ❤️

P.s. I hope to get some camping in, as well as share some wildlife photography with you!
